Origin of Material: The material for AMIS0366 was provided by Cons Murch Mine owned and operated by Village Main Reef. Cons Murch is situated along the Antimony Line of the Archaean aged Murchison greenstone belt, near Gravelotte (350 km NE of Pretoria), in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. The Murchison greenstone belt is an assemblage of lavas and sediments dated at more than three-billion years. The rocks are strongly sheared and strike WSW-ENE with a vertical dip. The primary antimony ore is stibnite.
Approximate Mineral and Chemical Composition: Ore occurs as mineralised reefs, stibnite disseminations or irregular veins and stringers of stibnite-quartz-carbonate.
