Origin of Material
The material for AMIS0603 was provided by North American Lithium Mine based is Val d’Or, Quebec, Canada. The project is located north of the historic mining town of Val d’Or, Quebec. The property is situated on the northern flank of the Archean Preissac-La Corne batholith , a syn- to post- tectonic intrusion that was emplaced in the Southern Volcanic Zone of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt of the Superior Province of Quebec.
Approximate Mineral and Chemical Composition
The Priessac-Lacorne Batholith is divided in two major magmatic intrusions: 1) an early metaluminous intrusion with a gabbroic, dioritic to granodioritic composition. It is foliated.and 2), a late peraluminous monzogranitic intrusion. It is not foliated to moderately foliated.
The batholith is associated with an aureole of Li, Mo, Be and Ta-mineralized pegmatites dykes.The spodumene-rich granitic pegmatites intrude almost exclusively the surrounding metavolcanics and metasedimentary rocks or the plutonic rocks of the early metaluminous magmatic intrusions (Boily, 2016).
