Origin of Material: The material was supplied by Kumba Iron Ore, a subsidiary of Anglo America Plc. Sourced from the Sishen mine, which is located 30km North West of the Town of Kathu in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. The fine material is a product of a JIG Plant and originates from the haematite ore body hosted by a Lake Superior-type banded iron formation (BIF) called Kuruman Formation of the Asbestos Hills Subgroup.
Mineral and Chemical Composition: The Iron (Fe) containing assemblages of this ROM material are made up of 73% Hematite and 2% Geothithe.
