AMIS0591 Cr 31.98 % ultramafic Great Dyke Zimbabwe
Origin of Material
The material was sourced from African Chrome Field’s (ACF) alluvial chrome mining concessions located in the Great Dyke region of Mashonaland and Midlands provinces of Central Zimbabwe.
The Great Dyke is a layered mafic intrusion of igneous, metal-bearing rocks that was formed approximately 2.5 billion years ago. The chrome ores are located in seams along the flanks of the center part of the Great Dyke
Approximate Mineral and Chemical Composition
Chromite occurs to the base of the Ultramafic Sequence and is mined throughout the Great Dyke.
