AMIS0389 Cr 3.92% 3E 0.164g/t LG6 Lumpy Waste Bushveld South Africa
Origin of Material: This standard was made using LG6 lumpy waste material supplied by Glencore Xstrata plc from the Kroondal Chrome Mine. The mine is situated on the Western Limb of the Bushveld Complex 12km south east of Rustenburg in the North West Province of South Africa.
The standard comprise of LG6 lumpy waste material. The LG6 lumpy waste is derived from mining the LG6 chromitite layer, the LG6 middling pyroxenite and the LG6A chromitite layer which occurs in the lower portion of the Critical Zone. The LG6 lumpy waste material is derived from a beneficiation process whereby the ROM lumpy material is split into a lumpy chromite product and lumpy waste material through dense medium separation (DMS).
Mineral and Chemical Composition: The LG6 lumpy waste material is derived mainly from the LG6 middling pyroxenite. The waste material consists mainly of medium grained equigranular ortho and clino pyroxene and lessor plagioclase. Minor minerals consist of chromite, mica and sulphides with some alteration minerals of chlorites and serpentines
