AMIS0388 Cr 27.06% 3E 0.559g/t LG6 Lumpy Ore Bushveld South Africa
Origin of Material: This standard was made using ore mined from the LG6 chromitite layer supplied by the Glencore Xstrata plc – Kroondal Chrome Mine. The mine is situated on the Western Limb of the Bushveld Complex 12 km east of Rustenburg in North West Province, South Africa.
The standard is made from Run-of-Mine (ROM) ore derived from mining the LG6 chromitite layer, the LG6 middling pyroxenite and the LG6A chromitite layer; which occur in the lower portion of the Critical Zone of the Bushveld Complex.
Mineral and Chemical Composition: The LG6 chromitite package consists of two chromitite layers separated by a pyroxenite parting. The chromitite layers have a composite thickness of 1.3 meters and consist mainly of fine to medium size cumulus chromite grains with minor interstitial pyroxene and plagioclase minerals. The LG6 middling consists mainly of medium grained equigranular ortho and clino pyroxene and lessor plagioclase.
