AMIS0391 Cr 10.30% 3E 0.164g/t LG6 Tails Bushveld South Africa
Origin of Material: This standard was made using Tailings following gravity separation of Chromite from ROM ore material supplied by Kroondal Chrome Mine. The mine is situated on the Western Limb of the Bushveld Complex.
The standard comprise of LG6 tails material. The LG6 tails are derived from mining the LG6 chromitite layer, the LG6 middling pyroxenite and the LG6A chromitite layer which occurs in the lower portion of the Critical Zone. The LG6 tails is waste material derived from the beneficiation process whereby the fines portion of the ROM ore is upgraded to a chromite concentrate. The fines waste is discarded as LG6 tails.
Mineral and Chemical Composition: The LG6 tails material is derived mainly from the LG6 middling pyroxenite. The waste material consists mainly of medium grained equigranular ortho and clino pyroxene and lessor plagioclase. Minor minerals consist of chromite, mica and sulphides with some alteration minerals of chlorites and serpentines.
Major element chemistry data from eleven of the labs has been compiled and certified. Uncertified summary statistics for trace element data are set out in the appendix.
