Origin of Material
This standard is made of uranium bearing gold ore originating from the Ventersdorp, Contact Reef, Carbon Leader Reef and Vaal Reef. The uranium bearing ore was blended with low grade material of similar matrix to obtain the required grade.
Approximate Mineral and Chemical Composition
The major gangue mineral is quartz with minor pyrite, uraninite and thucolite. It is more enriched in gold and quartz content although high uranium and carbon concentrations are also found. Uraninite grains are penetrated by the carbonaceous matter through cracks and further fragmented into smaller grain.
