Origin of Material
The samples were of the Black Reef package which consists of 3 reef types. The Buckshot Pyrite Leader, Black Reef Basal and the Black Reef Channel.
Approximate Mineral and Chemical Composition
The Black Reef Batches are mostly silicates (siliceous quartzites and vein quartz pebbles) with a high pyrite content and minor micas. Pyrite (FeS2) content can be as high as 30%. It shall be noted that the material has high sulphide content
