Origin of Material
The Material for AMIS was provided by Masbate Gold Mine located in Masbate island in the Philippines. Masbate island is situated in between major islands of luzon and Mindanao. The Masbate Gold Mine is a large epithermal vein type gold system bounded by two northwest trending fault zones that lies sub-parallel to the Philippine Fault that has controlled the emplacement of mineralised veins within the Masbate deposit.
Approximate Mineral and Chemical Composition
Mineralisation occurs within quartz veins, quartz calcite veins, quartz vein breccia, and the associated altered wallrock, stockwork zones and can also found in the volcanic and sedimentary host rocks. Gold is finely distributed associated with pyrite mineralisation.
